Scott DeLuzio

WordPress Plugin Developer

Scott DeLuzio is a WordPress plugin developer from the Phoenix, AZ area. He began working with websites while in college in the early 2000s while studying to be an accountant. After graduating college, Scott worked in accounting for several years while serving in the Army National Guard and continuing to build websites in WordPress. Scott has since made development his full-time job and has released a new plugin, WP1099, which makes it easy for U.S. based businesses who run multi-vendor marketplaces, or affiliate programs to issue 1099s to their vendors.

A Soldier’s Perspective on Mental Health

There is a lot of talk about impostor syndrome, work/life balance, burn out, helping others, and other topics that impact our mental health as developers. We all deal with it, and often times feel like there is no way to get out of that rut.

When I was a soldier, I faced all of these things and more. Sometimes the issues I faced had life or death consequences, and I had to learn how to work through them in a healthy manner.

While developers likely aren’t making life and death decisions on a daily basis, this talk won’t minimize the issues a developer faces when compared to issues a soldier faces. Instead, it will draw parallels between the two in order to help developers understand how they can justify taking a healthier course of action.
