At 11:00 ET today, we were given the following information from the National Hurricane Center:
A Hurricane Watch is in effect from Deerfield Beach, Florida to the Volusia/Brevard county line. Details here. This area is within a few miles of the LoopConf venue which is likely in an impact zone at this point.
In light of this information, the Loopconf Organizers have decided to postpone Loopconf. We value your safety, and feel the full weight of the responsibility we have to take care of our attendees. We would ask for your patience as we hammer out the details of determining the outcome of this event.
MATTHEW RUINED THE CONFERENCE, SO WHAT NOW?!
The first question everyone’s asking is “What happens to my ticket?” We are currently working on removing all personnel and property from the area. Within the next week we will be releasing a lot of information about RESCHEDULING Loopconf 2016 (possibly 2017). We will be sending out an email as soon as possible detailing our new plans for Loopconf for everyone who has a ticket.
We appreciate everyone understanding our decision to postpone the conference. Our biggest fear was to put the safety of our attendees in the balance. We ask for your patience as we work through these details.
ACTION PLAN – WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW
Please contact the hotel about your reservation. We cannot cancel your reservation with the hotel.
At this point, we are also advising everyone contact your airline to adjust your travel plans.
Again, we appreciate your support at this time. This was a last resort for us, but had to make attendee safety a priority. We ask for your patience as we plan details for the future of the event.
