We’re excited that you’re interested in speaking at LoopConf! Before you dive right in and fill out the application, we figured you should probably know a few details about our event, like what’s expected of our speakers, and what kind of awesome perks you get for contributing to our conference.
Code of Conduct
All attendees are required to comply with our code of conduct, and speakers are no exception. If you’re unwilling to abide by the code of conduct, then LoopConf isn’t the event for you.
Embrace the Open Source Spirit
We want all of our speakers to show up with an attitude to give freely. This isn’t an opportunity to pitch your company, it’s the chance to share knowledge that you’ve picked up as you’ve perfected your craft.
No Need To Be a Know-It-All
There are going to be a lot of smart people at LoopConf, but that doesn’t mean that everyone is an expert in every facet of WordPress. We all have strengths and weaknesses so bring what you know to the table and don’t worry about the rest. If we all bring the best of what we have, LoopConf will be an amazing event.
If you’re on the fence about whether or not you should submit a talk, you definitely should! Check out We Are All Awesome and Is Your Conference Proposal Good Enough if you need some extra encouragement. If you have an idea that doesn’t fit the criteria we’ve outlined below, feel free to get in touch and we’ll be happy to talk through your ideas with you.
Our goal is to find a diverse set of perspectives, from people who are really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with WordPress.
If you’ve found a rock-solid solution to a common problem, learned how to break through barriers with WordPress at scale, or are doing something entirely experimental that may just be the next sliced bread, we’d love to hear from you.
For our 2018 event we want to hear stories about the interesting things you’re building. Challenging decisions you’ve had to make as part of a large project, and what factors went into making those decisions. Come ready to share your most interesting work, and how you approached building your app, theme, plugin, or particularly innovative WordPress website.
As always, LoopConf sessions will be 30-40 minutes each and part of a single track format.
We still want sessions to be concise and void of fluff, but of course be ready to add context and tell a story as part of your presentation. Getting to the root of “why” your topic matters will be pivotal to whether or not the talk is accepted.
Also be ready to share examples of your work as part of your 45 minute presentation. Show & Tell was everyone’s favorite part of Kindergarten, and is well-received in on-stage talks as well.
If you’d like to present with a partner, include that as a note in the “Anything else you’d like to mention” field on the form.
If your proposal is chosen, we’ll cover the cost of your travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, three nights at the conference hotel, a fun meet & greet speaker dinner on Friday night, and of course full admission to the conference itself. We’ll also cover the cost of the pre-conference workshop ticket for you.
The deadline for submissions will be Tuesday, November 21st at Midnight Mountain time (November 22nd 7:00am GMT). The form will automatically close and no submissions will be accepted after that time.
We're sorry! Speaker applications for LoopConf 2018 have now closed.
